I (as in Instinct) brings together works by HaYoung, Lou Masduraud, Madison Bycroft, Neïla Czermak Ichti and Tarek Lakhrissi around a single premise: to view the “I” as an unstable construct.
Through video, sculpture and drawing, the artists approach the body as an open structure — scar, orifice, fluid, cavity — traversed by myths, gazes, infrastructures and gender projections.
Fragmentation of the image, scarred navel, air vents becoming mouths, diabolical figure, “gender fluid” (potion of gender…): each practice explores a way of cracking the unity of the subject.
The exhibition thus offers a reading of the “I” as a point of tension rather than as an asserted identity — a state in transformation, where fragmentation becomes a condition for recomposition.
