Bio
Aurélien Potier creates emotionally charged environments, in which materials — metal cables, wax, steel, wood, mortar, language — become carriers of physical and affective tension. A language emerges from matter itself, implicit or explicit, oscillating between erosion and resurgence.
At sissi club, he is working on a new series of works, including steel engravings and metal installations, for upcoming exhibitions, notably at Nicoletti Contemporary in London, Ravnikar in Ljubljana, his first solo exhibition at Gianni Manhattan in Vienna, as well as his participation in Frieze London.
Aurélien Potier lives and works in Marseille. His work has been presented at MO.CO. (Montpellier), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Triangle – Astérides (Marseille), CAPC (Bordeaux), CCA (Glasgow), la Casa Encendida (Madrid), Gianni Manhattan (Vienna), Sissi Club (Marseille), Air de Paris (Romainville), Ravnikar (Ljubljana), Nicoletti (London), Cooper Union (New York), Art Basel Paris and Frieze London. He was an artist in residency at Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Triangle – Astérides (Marseille), Center for Contemporary Arts & GSS (Glasgow), the CAC Synagogue de Delme and Homesession (Barcelona).
Since 2022, he co-organizes BRUTAL, a series of poetry nights and open mics in an intimate setting in Marseille. His work is represented by Gianni Manhattan, Vienna.
